Forced to leave his hometown of Timbiquí, in Cauca, with his family after the murder of his 16-year-old younger brother, Luis Ferney Mejía turned this ordeal into a source of motivation. Instead of being discouraged, he chose to highlight the traditional art of basketry of his community and make it known on the international stage, where handcrafted creations, made by hand and full of history, are very popular.
