Paja tetera
Paja tetera is a plant fiber derived from a plant with long, resistant leaves, used by indigenous artisans in South America for basketry and the creation of decorative objects. After harvesting, the leaves are dried, thinned, and prepared into fine strips, sometimes dyed with natural pigments to add color variations. Its weaving, carried out using ancestral techniques, allows for the creation of pieces that are both strong and elegant, reflecting a know-how passed down from generation to generation. Versatile and durable, paja tetera is prized for making baskets, rugs, and other unique handcrafted items.
